Curriculum activity   Pattern Hunt: Assign each student a partner. Ask
each pair to move around the room for 15-20 minutes and look for patterns. Tell them to write something about each pattern they see in their journals. They can draw a picture of the pattern if they want to.

    Using apple slices and a dehydrator, students can observe changes in size, color and mass of the apple slices before and after dehydration. Observe objects (or pictures of objects) and explain orally or in writing the changes that have occurred, including changes in size, mass.
    Digital Camera/Power Point or MS Publisher
    Students use the digital camera to take photos of the apple slices to record the changes. Then, the photos could be inserted into MS Power Point or MS Publisher. Students would use one of the MS Office applications to write about the changes that occured, such as size and mass.

    Students will analyze a picture of a community and identify on a graphic organizer the political, economic, social, and geographic factors shown.
